This category is mainly about storing and hosting. The "share" claim most often is weakly executed. You'll find some very similar websites in MULTIMEDIA 2.0.
Offering virtual hard disks combined with a full suite of web enabled softwares might be a very interesting endgame for some players in this category. But one stop solution providers are rare.
Many local players (not in this list) have entered the space. Plus a first sample of a mobile business case.

Hi :
Very helpful list!
One way of mitigating a risk of disaster is to have an online backup service. I have been reading about the online backup and storage industry for a while now. It is becoming a commonly accepted technology these days.
For online backup news, information and articles, there is an excellent website:
http://www.BackupReview.info
This site lists more than 400 online backup companies and ranks the top 25 on a monthly basis.
It also features a CEO Spotlight page, where senior management people from the industry are interviewed.
Cheers,
Re Backup Review: valuable, thanks!
You missed out one site which may be helpful. Mobyko.com will help you save all your mobile stuff. Invaluable if you regularly lose your phone like I do!
@Dan: Will look into it.
Data backup and data recovery are really important issues for small businesses that sometimes can be overlooked by computer consulting professionals working with them when they are trying to sell their solutions. Being able to illustrate how disaster data loss can be for a company is one of the keys to selling your solutions as a tech provider. What business owner is going to argue with the disastrousness of total system melt-down after a hurricane or other natural disaster or when a disgruntled employee hacks into the system? The risk of losing thousands of dollars in a day when you lose data that potentially is never recovered is typically a pretty good reason to keep on top of data backup.
I provide free tips in my blog about IT consulting for those at various stages of their businesses – particularly those involved in the SMB market – but my advice works across the board. One thing I really recommend is really stressing data backup and recovery with prospects and clients! Thanks for the helpful list!
